TIME COMMITMENT/COMPENSATION
Full-time; minimum effective salary of $35,000.00 plus benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong Christian commitment and biblical knowledge.
Masters degree in education with a focus on children's education as well as formal training in Christian Education are preferred.
Minimum of three year's professional experience in education, administration and management of educational programs.
Knowledge and experience in preschool education sufficient to ensure the quality of the children's ministry of the church.
Knowledge and experience in activity based learning, instructional design and multiple intelligence theory.

Position Description
Position Title: Director of Children's Ministries
Description:
The role of the Director of Children’s Ministries is to implement, administer, and promote the program of children's Christian education at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church.
Relationships:
• The Director of Children’s Ministries is part of the ministry team and is accountable to the Senior Pastor and the Session. This position will report directly to the Head of Staff and be responsible to the Business Manager.
• Works as a team with the staff and committees working on Christian education.
• Primary working relationship with the Children's Ministry Committee.
Qualifications:

• Masters degree in education with a focus on children's education as well as formal training in Christian Education are preferred.

Responsibilities:
• Plan, direct and administer a comprehensive program of Christian education for children from birth through fifth grade involving Sunday School using the Rotation Model, Children in Worship, children's worship resources, after school and weekday activities, and special activities such as Bible School. Coordinates all children’s special events such as Fall Festivals, Easter egg hunts, VBS and several inter-generational rally day events.
• Serve as staff resource for the Children's Ministry Committee and the Christian Education Committee.
• Oversee the management of the learning centers utilized as a part of the Rotation Sunday School. Oversee and order all supplies for all children’s programming including curriculum materials.
• Facilitate children's participation in ministry in the community outside the church.
• Responsible for recruiting, equipping, inspiring, supervising, and training lay leaders for all areas of the children's ministries.
• Oversee nursery coordinator. Interview, hire and schedule child care workers. CPR/First Aid training.
• Responsible for training and monitoring Safe Sanctuary policy with all paid and volunteer staff.
• Involved in worship from time to time with children’s sermons, commissioning services, etc.
• Meet with appropriate committees to develop and administer annual budgets.
• Work closely with SHEEP Director to facilitate communication between Sunday School and Preschool teachers and use of shared equipment and supplies.
• Write and create “Children’s Ministries” Tower page each month.
• Oversee all communications to families regarding policies, upcoming events, classes, etc.
• Oversee that rolls are kept up to date with new members, new babies, etc.
• Organize and oversee child care for church events.
• Collaborate with other professionals and volunteers in the planning and implementation of the overall educational ministry of the congregation.
